Procedure for birth certificate/ death certificate

[a] LAW The Births and Deaths Registration Act, 28 of 1970
[b] REGISTRAR Registrar General’s office

[c] PROCEDURE -Every person registering a births/death to fill in
a declaration form and certify to the correctness of the particulars by signing the
form.

-The declaration form is stamped by the hospital administrator or sub-county chief of the place of birth.

[d] Registration upon payment of a prescribed fee the Registrar General issues a certificate.

[e] FEES PAYABLE

Birth and Death Registration


a) National Application

i) Long Certificates Shs 5,000
ii) Short Certificates Shs 1,000
iii) Alterations Shs 5,000

b) Foreign Application

i) Long Certificates US$ 40.000
ii) Short Certificates US$ 20.000
ii) Certification US$ 20.000
iv) Alterations US$ 40.000 -
